October Reflection
The Space Between
Trusting who we are Becoming
Hello Beautiful Community!
What a beautiful start to fall we’ve had here in the PNW. The warmth of summer is lingering a little longer, while at the same time, the colors of the landscape are beginning to shift.
Watching the gradual change in season has had me reflecting on the subtle changes unfolding in our own lives, the threshold between who we have been and who we are becoming.
Autumn doesn't arrive in a single moment. It happens gradually, subtly, until one day we look around and realize everything has changed.
I think we are allowed to change this way too.
The journey of our own growth and change doesn't have to begin with a sudden decision, a drawn line, or knowing exactly who we are becoming. Sometimes it begins with a subtle knowing: a feeling we can no longer ignore, a sense that something no longer fits as it once did.
I'm learning that a threshold isn't something you simply cross.
Sometimes it is a place where we hang out for a while.
Thresholds can be uncomfortable because they ask us to live in the space between no longer being fully who we were and not yet knowing who we are becoming.
Becoming does not require us to know exactly where we are going. It only asks that we stay present enough to recognize when we are no longer who we were.
The trees don’t question the leaves as they begin to change color, nor do they rush them to fall away. There is a gradual loosening; maybe we can allow our own change the same grace.
With warmth and trust for all that is shifting,
Michaela
